CBAM software for installations outside the EU
CBAM embedded emissions calculation
Calculate the embedded emissions per tonne of the goods you export to the EU, ready to send to your buyer.
- 2026The definitive period began on 1 January 2026.
- Your buyerYour EU importer asks you for embedded emissions data.
- With CarbonetCalculated under EU rules, ready to send.
Who it is for
Six sectors covered by CBAM
Every producer selling these goods to the EU must give embedded emissions data to its buyer.
Iron and steel
Aluminium
Cement
Fertilisers
Hydrogen
Electricity

Calculation steps
How to calculate embedded emissions
- 01Installation and processes
You define the installation boundary and production processes.
- 02Goods and CN codes
You link goods to CBAM aggregated goods categories by CN code.
- 03Direct emissions
Fuel and process emissions are calculated.
- 04Indirect emissions
Emissions from consumed electricity are calculated.
- 05Precursors
Embedded emissions of purchased precursors are added.
- 06Result per product
Specific embedded emissions (t CO₂e / t) go to your buyer.
Actual data
Default values or actual data?
Without your actual data, your buyer has to use EU default values.
- Default valuesSet conservatively by the EU, with a mark-up on top.
- Actual dataCalculated from your own production data; often lower.
- VerificationIn the definitive period actual emissions are verified by an accredited verifier.
- CostYour buyer's CBAM certificate cost depends on this value.
In Carbonet
Ready for your CBAM calculation
- 01569 CN codesCBAM goods are already defined.

- 03Combined heat and powerEmissions are split for CHP installations.
- 04From your footprintCorporate carbon footprint data flows into the CBAM calculation.
- 05Result ready for buyersOutput is ready to send to your EU buyer.
- 06Turkish and EnglishInterface and outputs in two languages.
Questions
CBAM questions
What are embedded emissions?
The direct, indirect and precursor emissions released to produce one tonne of a good.
Who submits the CBAM declaration?
The EU importer declares; it gets the embedded emissions data from the producer — from you.
When did the definitive period start?
On 1 January 2026. The first annual declaration for 2026 imports is made in 2027.
What if I give no actual data?
Your buyer uses EU default values; with the mark-up the cost goes up.
Is it only for Turkish producers?
No. Carbonet works for any installation outside the EU, in Turkish or English.
